Its been a busy twelve months for the Queensbury Boxing League and 2011 produced some amazing nights of action as the league continued to cement its position as the most exciting boxing promotion in the country. But with 2012 just around the corner the UK'S premier boxing league has confirmed that the coming year will be the most exciting so far with eight events already confirmed and with a huge amount of new fighters and gyms joining the Queensbury revolution exciting times lay ahead.
Starting in February the league kicks off 2012 with the first installment of the brand new Challenger Fight Night Series with the inaugural show set for the East Grinstead Sports Club on Saturday the 18th of February. These exciting new events will start to feature just some of the fantastic new talent that has recently joined the Queensbury ranks and will also feature some of the more established names as they all bid to enhance their reputations and climb the leagues rankings in search of title opportunities. Toping the bill in February the newly crowned Queensbury novice Welterweight champion Tom Knight will defend his belt against Eastbourne's Gary Doocey in what promises to be an all action thriller. Doocey will be making his second appearance in the league after previously disposing of Chris Thurn back in April, but in his absence from the league he has been busy competing on other shows and will enter the contest brimming with confidence and ready to try and relieve Knight of his title. Knight however will be in no mood to relinquish his crown after working hard to claim the belt back in November during a tough battle with Crawley's Stuart Goodwin and will be coming into the bout hungry to prove why he is the champion.
Featuring on the packed undercard of action the show will see the return of Scott Charlton, Ben Davies, Roo Abbott and Dave Bell plus an number of debutants to the league including Jason Chay, Marc Beresford, Simon Astill and Sonny Eady. Next up the league returns to the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on Saturday March 10th for its massive Night Of Champions promotion that will feature the biggest night of championship boxing ever witnessed in one night. The explosive evening will feature seven championship contests including reigning British Light Middleweight Champion Dan Lawrence and British Welterweight champion Patrick Fielder as they both return to the scene of their most memorable victories when the pair both claimed their titles on the league's big September 17th show The Reckoning. Both men will be looking to continue their winning runs and remain champions but they will each face tough opposition and will be pushed to the limits in their first defences.
Also in title action newly crowned Queensbury British Super Middleweight champion Gareth Gardner will be back for the first time after his impressive victory in November when he took the scalp of Luke Dawson to lift the crown, but there will be no shortage of willing opponents lining up to try and take on the champion and confirmation of his next opponent will be announced by the league very soon.. Also back in action after his impressive Middleweight title eliminator victory over London's Michael Woolsey, Croydon's Joe McDonald will bid to become the new Queensbury novice Middleweight champion when he takes on Hasting's Mark Fisher. Fisher is no stranger to the league after locking horns with some of the divisions hottest properties in previous outings but by his own admission has not lived up to his potential but he will need to be at his very best if he is to scupper McDonalds march to title glory.
The league will be announcing more big fight additions to both events over the coming weeks, and ticket for both events will be available over the next few weeks.
