Super middleweight Roo Abbott say’s he is ready to put the disappointment of his last performance behind him and get back to winning ways when he makes his return to action next month to face the unbeaten Karl Williams at the East Grinstead Sports Club.
The twenty four year old decorator who fights out of the popular Juggernauts Boxing Gym in Felbridge will be appearing on the undercard of the Queensbury Boxing League’s exciting Challenger Fight Night on Saturday February 18th, and Abbott will be hoping to recapture the form that saw him beat Gravesend’s Ronnie Ward when he made his debut.
For Abbott the bout represents the opportunity to get his fledgling career back on track after suffering his first defeat last time out against London’s Steve Dixon in a bruising encounter, but with his preparations in full swing Abbott is confident he can rectify his mistakes from that fight and emerge with the win.
“ My first fight in the league couldn’t have gone any better and everything went exactly to plan, but for the Dixon fight it went a bit wrong and my preparations for the fight were not great,” opined Abbott.
“ I came up against a better man on the night, but on the 18th you will see a different fighter altogether and I’ve been in training all over Christmas in preparation for this fight and I’m ready to give 110% and bring the win back to the gym”
The man looking to spoil Abbotts comeback will be Oxford’s Karl Williams who enters the bout with an unblemished record after three contests, and after recording an emphatic victory on his league debut back in November will be confident of sending Abbott home empty handed in front of his hometown support.
“ I watched Karl back in November and I know this is going to be a tough fight for me. He’s tall and rangy and he’s not lost yet, but I’m already in great shape and when that first bell rings I’m going to be ready and I know this will be my night”
Tickets for Abbott versus Williams are now available to purchase directly from the league or through the fighters appearing on the bill, and with an exciting 12 bout card of boxing already confirmed the first Challenger Fight Night at the East Grinstead Sports Club looks set to produce fireworks.
