Queensbury Boxing League - Akram Faces Toughest Test On Saturday Night

Title contender Faraz Akram say's he will be looking for another devastating knockout finish this Saturday night, as the undefeated prospect prepares for the biggest fight of his life at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey.

Akram, 19 from Reading will step through the ropes on Saturday to challenge teak tough fellow contender Naethan Hutcheon for the league's vacant Novice Middleweight title in only his third competitive fight since joining the show, and after blasting out his two previous opponents in emphatic fashion, the young warrior has already caught the attention of some of the shows bigger names,

Akram was last in action back in July at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace, when he demolished Scotland’s Mark Brown in the opening round of their contest, and after previously stopping veteran title challenger Mark Shrubb on his debut, the Reading assassin has already targeted some of the competitions bigger names if he can emerge with the belt this weekend.

Talking ahead of his impending title showdown against Hutcheon this weekend Akram said: “ This fight is all about me showing people what I can do. People have seen me bang out my first two opponents, but I want them to see my boxing skills and that’s what I’ll be doing on the 25th.

“ So far people haven’t really seen that much of me because my opponents just don’t last that long, but I can box, punch and I am very confident, so I’m looking at making a big statement this time and I’m preparing like a champion to do just that.

"Training wise I started my preparations a lot earlier for this fight and I'm feeling in great shape, and although I don't really know too much about Hutcheon, I'm going in there to knock him out and make a big statement"

Akram's title showdown will feature on the undercard of this weekends The Day Of Reckoning promotion headlined by the National Super Middleweight title fight between challengers Terry Russell and Artur Gorka. Tickets for the event are priced at £35, £55 and £70 and can be purchased from the shows box office on 0203 751 8599 or at the box office on Saturday night.
