Wraysbury Light Middleweight prospect Tony Bange has been given the royal seal of approval ahead of his debut in the UK’s premier boxing league after being tipped for future stardom by none other than former world featherweight champion Prince Naseem Hamed.
The twenty two year old who goes by the moniker of TNT due to his ferocious punching power, caught the eye of Hamed after the former champ witnessed Bange working out on the pads during a training session with Hamed’s cousin Anas Oweida, and Hamed was so impressed that he has been giving the debutant valuable tips ahead of his competitive debut.
Bange will step through the ropes next weekend at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex to make his Queensbury Boxing League debut which is being filmed for satellite based sports channel British Eurosport, and if Bange can live up to his explosive reputation he looks set for big things over the coming year.
“ I started boxing when I was four years old, and I’ve always been punching the bag or training in some way, commented the twenty two year old.
"My inspiration when I first started out was Mike Tyson as I loved watching the way he used to fight, and Naz said my style is very similar to Tyson’s which is a real compliment”
“I’m just excited about getting into the ring now and building up my experience, and hopefully this will be the start of something big for me”
The man in charge of preparing Bange for his first competitive outing in the league Anas Oweida, believes his young charge has the potential to go all the way in the sport, and is hoping his man can deliver something special on the night.
“Tony’s got the talent and he’s got the power, so all he needs now is the experience and I think we’ve got a future champion in the making, remarked Oweida.
“I’ve been training him twice a day in the build up to this fight, and although I won’t be in his corner on the night, I’m sure the team looking after him will be able to ensure he does the business’
Bange’s debut will feature on the packed undercard of action taking place on the league’s “In The Line Of Fire” promotion on Saturday May 18th. Tickets for the event are still available priced at £35, £50 and £65, and to see teh full line up of action click HERE
