Champion Leroy throws down the gauntlet to Rahman

Queensbury Boxing League - Champion Leroy throws down the gauntlet to Rahman

National welterweight champion Tommy Leroy has thrown down the gauntlet to title challenger Ami Rahman calling for his rival to "swing it out" with him on May 11th.

Leroy will face Rahman on Saturday May 11 at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey in the main event of the leagues huge night of championship boxing in Surrey. The champion was last in action back in February when he successfully defended the belt against challenger Jake Williams in an early contender for fight of the year.

And with the taste of victory still fresh in his mouth, Leroy is itching to get back into the ring and face Rahman in what he believes will be one of his toughest fights.

Talking to QBL TV Leroy said: "This is going to be a tough fight against Rahman as he's proved he's a banger and can knock people out, but lets see if he can knock out the 18 year old king of Queensbury Boxing League.

" Lets just go in there on May 11th and swing it out and show the whole crowd who can bang the hardest."

Hertfordshires's Rahman will enter his first title opportunity in the competition off the back of three devastating stoppage victories culminating with the first round stoppage over late replacement Josh Latimer at the Troxy earlier this month, but Leroy seems unfazed by the task that awaits him next time out.

"I'm absolutely buzzing for this fight with Rahman and I wish it was tomorrow, said he champion.

"I've been waiting for a fight like this and I'm already feeling fit and strong off the back of my last fight in February.

"I think this is going to be a proper fight that everyone that sees it will remember. Although both Ami and I are saying we are going to win this its all been very respectful which is how it should be.

"I feel that I'm more than ready to keep this belt and I can't wait for the night."

Leroy versus Rahman will headline the leagues 'Stand And Be Counted' promotion taking place at the Epsom Downs Racecourse on Saturday May 11th. Tickets arepriced at £35, £60 and £75 and can be purchased from the event box office on 0203 751 8599
