Queensbury Boxing League - Gardner Preparing For Jacobs Cracker

Gareth Gardner say’s he will be swapping festive fun for grueling gym sessions this Christmas as he starts his preparations for the biggest fight of his career.

Croydon’s Gardner will travel to London on February 17th to face fellow pro star Tommy “Sweet T” Jacobs in a colossal showdown for the International Masters Light Middleweight title at the famous Troxy in East London.

Both Gardner and Jacobs have built solid reputations in the professional ranks after competing side by side on numerous shows, but the pair will meet for the first time inside the ring early next year when they clash in the biggest title showdown the competition has ever promoted.

Talking ahead of the fight Gardner said,” We have both been boxing in the league for a while now and the fans know both of us really well which makes this fight much more exciting”

“ I think this is going to be a great match-up as we both have very different styles, and boxing wise Tommy is a step up in class”

Gardner ended his 2017 season with a good win over Ireland’s Michael Kelly back in October after returning from his only professional defeat earlier in the season, and the Croydon crowd pleaser believes Kelly was the perfect fight for him to get himself back on track and ready for 2018.

“ I was gutted to lose to Sambou earlier this year but the Kelly fight gave me the opportunity to shake off the cobwebs and get my confidence back to where it should be”

“ I’ve seen plenty of footage of Tommy and I know exactly how I need to box to be able to beat him. Tommy’s illusive and if you give him the space he’s going to be hard to beat, but I’m not going to let him have that room, continued Gardner.

“ Boxing for my first professional title is going to be a huge deal and it’s going to mean plenty of sacrifices need to be made over the next few months, but if you want something badly enough you have to go for it”

“ I’m not going in there looking to knock Tommy out, I’m going into this fight to do what I need to do to win but if I finish him early then that’s just going to be a bonus”

Gardner versus Jacobs headlines the Queensbury Boxing League’s NO LOVE LOST promotion taking place on Saturday February 17th 2018 at the Troxy in Commercial Road East London, and for ticket information call the box office on 0203 7518599
