Queensbury Boxing League - Gardner Vs Leinster How The League's Stars See It

The league catches up with some of the competitions biggest stars to get their predictions ahead of the massive British Middleweight title showdown between pound for pound champion Gareth Gardner and rising star Kieran "Lights Out" Leinster next weekend at the shows Night Of Destiny season finale.

Sam "The Hammer" Holloway - Two Weight National Champion & Previous Gardner Opponent

Ultimately I think Gareth is just going to have to much experience and knowledge for Kieran in this fight, but I also don’t think its going to be as one sided as people are saying, but it will definitely be a Gardner win. Kieran looks strong and can obviously bang a bit as he’s shown in his last couple of performances, but his last few opponents have been no where near to Gareth’s level and I think that will show in this fight. I think the first couple of rounds will be close but for me Gardner out works him as I don’t think Leinster has the boxing brain or the foot work to out box Gareth.

Prediction- Gardner Win

Danny Parsons - Undefeated Regional and National Lightweight Champion

I think this is Kieran Leinster’s big chance to prove to everyone he’s as good as his record suggests, and he’s got the power to hurt Gardner as we’ve seen in a few recent fights. From all his previous wins Gardner always comes back and finds a way to win even when he’s been hurt in a fight and I won’t be surprised to see Gardner rocked once or twice in this one, but I believe Gareth’s work rate and determination will get him a hard fought win.

Prediction- Gardner Win

Danny "Dynamite" Lineham - Former National Middleweight Champion & British Title Challenger

I see this fight being a high paced battle that will sway each way as long as it lasts. We know what Gareth Gardner brings to the table and that he always finishes well, but I also think that is down to the lack of stamina in his previous opponents as well as Gareth’s engine. In Leinster Gardner will be facing an opponent that will match him for stamina right to the very end, but I think Gareth still has the edge in work rate over Leinster. Gardner is very easy to hit and credit where credits due to Kieran because he can certainly bang, My prediction is if Gareth Gardner is still standing after 5 rounds he will get the win on points as he’s been doing 5 rounds against top fighters for a long time and its nothing new to him, but if he isn’t standing I believe it will be because he has been stopped late on in rounds 4 or 5. I’m on the fence a little bit, but if I were forced to choose I’d edge it to Gardner on points.

Prediction- Gardner Win

Terry Russell - Current National Super Middleweight Champion

This is going to be a very interesting fight in my eyes due to the similarity in styles of both guys. Kieran Leinster is an aggressive come forward style fighter which is exactly what Gareth Gardner has become famous for in the league, but for me Gardner will have the advantage in experience as the hardened veteran who still maintains a good defence even when attacking forward. It’s a hard one to call but I’m going with Gardner on points.

Prediction- Gardner Win

John Hefford - Former 2 Time National Middleweight Title Challenger & Previous Leinster Opponent

For me Kieran Leinster is going to be Gareth Gardner’s toughest test to date in the league. I think Gardner will ultimately edge it on work rate, but you can’t underestimate Leinster, which I know from first hand experience. I think this fight will show us how deep Leinster can dig under pressure, but one things for sure this fight is going to be a war, and when you have the power Leinster has he is always going to be in the fight as long as it goes on because as we know in boxing it only takes one punch to finish it.

Prediction- Gardner Win
