Marty Kayes fired out an ominous warning to new Queensbury professional debutant Gareth Gardner ahead of Saturday night's huge showdown at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel, telling his rival to expect a "nightmare" debut.
Kayes, from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland will enter Saturday nights History In The Making main event as an unknown quantity to the majority of the league's fans who have followed Gardner on his prolific title winning streak, but Kayes is confident he will wreck the former 3 weight QBL British champions unbeaten run in the pro ranks before he even gets started by handing the Croydon crowd pleaser a painful lesson this weekend.
Talking exclusively to QBL TV this afternoon the charismatic pugilist from the emerald isle said, " On Saturday night I'm going to give Gareth Gardner nightmares in the ring, and if he thinks his debut will be like his other fights then he's fooling himself"
Kayes, who was already in full training for his WBU title fight next month only took the contest on Wednesday after original opponent Sylwester Walczac withdrew for family reasons, and the Irish stylist has made his intensions quite clear about how he see's his fight going with Gardner.
"I'm sure Gardner is going to come out fast and try and put on the pressure, but I'm used to boxing that kind of opponent and that won't bother me"
" When I got the call to fight I was already in hard training for the WBU shot, plus with this fight going on Eurosport I'm promising Gardner I'm only coming to win"
" I've only seen a little bit of footage of him on You Tube and I can already see what type of fighter he is"
"I can't see him being able to cope with all the angles I'm going to be giving him, and as I've said his dream debut will be more like a nightmare after I've won"
Kayes will collide with Gardner on Saturday night at the hotly anticipate Reisser History In The Making promotion which will features both professional and Queensbury Boxing League contests on the same bill, and for ticket information contact the box office on 0203 751 8599.
