Ruben Giles say’s he is ready to start a new chapter his boxing career next month, when he steps through the ropes at the iconic Alexandra Palace in North London to compete in the league's biggest night of all time.
The popular young prospect from Chertsey was last in action back in 2007 when he recorded his fifth straight win as a professional by beating Karl Taylor to extend his unbeaten run in the pro ranks, but after being involved in a series of cancelled fights and becoming frustrated with the politics within the sport, Giles decided to hang up his gloves before he could fulfil his undoubted potential.
Now twenty six, Giles has announced he is dusting off the gloves in preparation for his ring return on Saturday March 15th, when he enters the league to face Northampton’s Danny Lineham for the Queensbury British Middleweight title.
Talking ahead of his long awaited return Giles said: “ I love everything about boxing, but when I was in the pro’s there was so much politics involved and I felt I never got a fair shout during my time so I hung my gloves up because I felt I wasn’t going forward any more.
“ I know I could have gone a long way in the sport back then, but I just lost the interest with fights always falling through and I’d trained hard for six or eight weeks being supported by my family to get ready and then not to fight in the end was hard.
“I thought about going back to the pro’s and I had several offers, but I really like what the Queensbury Boxing League is doing for boxing and although its not going to be easy, I‘m ready to come back now and make my mark”
Giles will feature in the co main event of the Capital Shakedown show taking place at the Alexandra Palace in North London, and Giles believes it will not be an easy nights work ahead facing one of divisions biggest hitters.
“ Danny's been in with some good people in the league, but I’m not going into this fight to throw powder punches, I’m going in there to bang him out so that’s what I’m aiming for.
"He definitely will not have it all his own way in there with me, I only come to win and that's wht I plan to do on March 15th.
