Middleweight John Hefford believes he is just one victory away from being right back in the mix with the best Middleweight’s in the league, as he prepares to collide with National champion Daniel Spencer.
The Hornchurch stylist will return to the ring on Saturday February 7th at the Copthorne Millennium Hotel in West Sussex in the main event of the league's opening show of the 2015 season, and after the judges were unable to split the pair when the duo first met at the Alexandra Palace last summer, Hefford feels he and Spencer have some pressing unfinished business to settle.
Hefford was last in action back in September when his dream rematch with Kieran "Lights Out" Leinster ended with a nightmare finish when Hefford failed to beat the count from a third round knockdown, but after temporarily calling time on his career the Essex man is confident he still has what it takes to beat the best the competition has.
“ 2014 was not my best year, but the setbacks have made me more determined now, and I’ve been in the gym all over Christmas and New Year getting ready for this fight” said Hefford.
“ Even though I think I nicked the first fight against Spencer, looking back at it on TV I wasn’t throwing enough punches in the fight and I was loading up with too many big shots.
“To be fair Spencer did surprise me with the way he boxed as I thought he would just stand in front of me and trade which is how he’s previously fought, but this time around I know what I’ve got to do”
“ I’m really looking at making a statement in this fight and its now time for me to produce the form I’m showing in the gym in the ring on the night, and once I win this one I’m going to be right back up there in the division with the best out there.
Hefford’s showdown with Spencer will headline the hotly anticipated Rise Of The Warriors seaon opener on February 7th, and to see the rest of the packed line up click HERE
