Former two division middleweight champion Ben Davies has promised to “chop” rival Rossco Parker down next Saturday night, when the pair go toe to toe on the Reisser No Mercy undercard.
Surrey's Davies will end an 8-month absence from competition when he climbs through the ropes at the Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex to collide with two time national middleweight title challenger Parker, and Davies is eager to put on the performance of the night as he targets more titles this season.
“ I’m coming full steam ahead for Parker next weekend and I’m going to chop him down to size in that ring, said Davies.
“I’ve got so much respect for Rossco and I know that this is not going to be an easy fight at all, but even with his height and reach advantages I’ll be the one pushing forward and taking it to him”
Davies was last in action back in May 2016 when he narrowly missed out on winning the vacant national title after dropping a close points decision to rival Joel Wanderema, and although he admits his attention is firmly fixed on Parker next weekend, there is a small part of him that is already thinking about a return with London's Wanderema.
“All I am focussing on at the moment is getting past Rossco Parker and making a statement, but there is the extra motivation that beating him will lead to another shot at Wanderema, continued Davies.
“ I showed Wanderema too much respect in the first fight and that slow start cost me the belt, and looking back at the fight I know I should have started faster and I would have won the fight”
“Next Saturday night I’m going to start fast and finish strong, and as soon as the first bell rings you can expect to see plenty of action"
Davies collision with Parker will feature on the huge Reisser No Mercy promotion on Saturday February 4th at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex, and for ticket information call the Box Office on 0203 751 8599
