Gareth Gardner believes an impressive performance against rival Ideh Ochuko in the main event of the Queensbury season finale show next month, will push him up the ladder towards much bigger fights on 2017.
The league's former 3 division British champion will make his second professional appearance of the season at the K2 arena in Crawley on Saturday December 3rd, when he collides with the teak tough London based Nigerian in his first 6 rounder.
Gardner was originally scheduled to meet Ochuko back in September in the main event of the Reisser All Guns Blazing promotion in Epsom, but a virus picked up during training ruled him out of that showdown. But with the prospect of meeting Ochuko on the biggest show of the year, Gardner is itching to pull the gloves back on and build momentum after winning his professional debut back in June, with a comfortable win over veteran Marty Kayes.
“ I was gutted I had to pull out from the last fight in September due to illness, but I’ve been back in the gym after a few weeks rest and I’m back on track,“ Gardner told the Daily Sport.
“ I’ve known about Ochuko since the amateur ranks, and as a pro he’s never been stopped which proves what a solid character he is”
“ If you look at his record he’s been in with quality opponents like British champion Darren Hamilton and Scott Cardle, and for this fight I know he’s coming to win".
“When I put on a good performance against him and show people how mediocre he is, hopefully that will push me up the ladder onto bigger things”
Gardner versus Ochuko will headline the Queensbury’s spectacular Only The Brave promotion taking place on Saturday December 3rd at the K2 arena in Crawley, West Sussex, and to view the rest of the line up click HERE
