QBL middleweight Ben Davies has set his sights on creating history in next month’s big title showdown with London rival Joel Wanderema, as he bids to add the vacant national title to his growing trophy cabinet.
The two-division champion will face Wanderema in the mouth watering main event at the pleague's hotly anticipated “ Reisser High Stakes” promotion on Saturday May 14th in West Sussex, and Davies has promised to shake off his "underdog" status once again and prove he’s the real deal in the most exciting division in the competition.
Davies was last in action back in September on Season 5 when he emerged victorious from his toughest test stopping bitter rival Bryan Richardson in the final round of his regional title defence, and the Surrey champion say’s even after firmly stamping his authority on the division with the win over Richardson, he still feels he has to prove certain doubters wrong once more by beating Wanderema.
“ I love it when people think I can’t beat someone as it just makes me perform better under that pressure, and I’ll prove it once again by beating Wanderema, said Davies.
“ Since the Richardson fight I’ve changed camps and I’ve been working on so many new things to step up my game for this fight, and everything I’m doing now is on another level and going perfectly to plan”
“ I’ve seen Joel in the league many times and he’s a big powerful guy who has power in those dangerous straight shots and hooks, and if I get hit with one of them it’s going to hurt, but we are working on speed, power, strength and my defence to ensure I’m more than ready".
“ When it comes down to it I’m confident its going to be my boxing ability that will make the difference in this fight, and I’m not turning up to lose so on May 14th I’ll be in the best shape of my life and I’ll be the new champion”
Davies collision with Wanderema will top the bill of a huge evening of championship boxing taking place on Saturday May 14th at the Millennium arena at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex, and for ticket information log on to www.queensburyboxing.co.uk
