I'm Ready For Anything On July 1st Warns Haughney

Queensbury Boxing League - I'm Ready For Anything On July 1st Warns Haughney

Queensbury title challenger Jimmy Haughney has promised to avenge his loss to Lee Cannon and earn his place in the competitions history books next month.

The 38-year-old from Bermondsey in South London will again share the ring with his rival on Saturday July 1st when the pair collide at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey for the chance to claim the recently vacated regional light middleweight title.

The Bermondsey postman was involved in a memorable dust up against Cannon back in April when the contenders battled it out over three hotly contested rounds, and with former champion Kane Baker relinquishing the belt to pursue his chance to win the national title  later this year Haughney believes the added incentive of winning the belt has increased his burning desire for revenge

“On July 1st you are going to see a completely different fight and I’m determined to take that title home with me, said Haughney.

“ I watched our first fight back again yesterday and I still believe that I won the fight and should have got the decision”

“ Facing Cannon again and overturning the loss is important but knowing I could add my name to the league’s history books by becoming a champion takes this fight to another level for me, continued Haughney.

“ In my fight against Steve Albone last year I proved I could have a tear up and go toe to toe with anyone, and in the Cannon fight I showed I could box and move”

“ For this next fight I’m going to need to show I can do both and mix it up when I need to and also go to war if required”

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Cannon as he’s a great fighter, but I’m confident I’ve got plenty in the locker to beat him whatever direction the fight takes”

Haughney’s quest to capture the regional light middleweight crown takes place on the undercard of the league’s summer blockbuster All Fired Up on Saturday July 1st at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and for ticket information contact the box officeon 0203 751 8599.
