QBL middleweight Oliver Lawrence believes victory in next month’s crucial showdown against veteran Paul Morby could pave the way for a title shot this season.
Contender Lawrence will be back in action at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on Saturday April 9th on the stacked under card of the league's big REISSER EDGE OF GLORY promotion, and the 23 year old from Maidstone in Kent says just one mistake against the experienced Morby could see him taste defeat.
Lawrence was last in action back in October when he recorded a comprehensive points win over Brighton’s Chris Sharpe to edge him closer to a title elimination shot, but Lawrence was forced to withdraw from his first outing of the new season in February when he suffered a fractured wrist in sparring.
But with the carrot of a title shot edging even closer and Lawrence’s injury now fully recovered, the Maidstone man feels ready to step things up and seize his chance of winning his first league title.
“Getting injured in the build up to the February fight was frustrating, but now that the injury has recovered I’m really focussing on the next fight, said Lawrence.
“ Paul Morby is a tough fight for me as he’s fought the likes of world champion Liam Smith and world title challenger Frank Buglioni, so I need to be fully focussed as one mistake could cost me”
“ Training wise I’ve been really pushing the intensity of things hard and making sure I’m going to be the fittest that I have ever been, so there is no chance of me overlooking Morby and slipping up.
" Its 5 weeks to go to the show and I'm feeling really sharp so I can't wait to get back in the ring now"
Lawrence's collision with Morby will take place on Saturday April 9th at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and for ticket information contact the Box Office on 0203 751 8599
