Queensbury Boxing League - Jack Warren prepares for league debut against ex pro Ami Rahman

LONDONER Jack Warren says he is ‘excited’ to finally get his opportunity to box this Saturday night as he prepares to lock horns against former pro Ami Rahman on the 2018 season finale.

Warren will make his league debut on home turf on the undercard of the ‘Capital Shakedown’ bill, staged in the capital at the famous Troxy.

An experienced former amateur with 27 bouts and a record of 15-12 whilst representing the The Times Amateur Boxing Club, 'The Ripper' will lace the gloves back on for this first time since calling time on his amateur career.

As Warren prepares to step out under the bright lights he admitted his boxing style was always more suited away from the amateur ranks,

“As an amatuer I was always told I shouldn’t be in the amateurs because I have a pro style,” Warren said.

“I was told that by trainers even from other clubs. I’d like to say I adapt to any fight - if it’s at long range I can work on the outside, I like to think I can adapt to any fight.

“I’m really excited, I’ve been to watch my trainer Joe (Seabrook) box before in February this year and it was such an amazing show I couldn’t wait to sign up for it.

“Because it’s such a good show, I know there’s a lot of media that comes with the Queensbury Boxing League, which I’m honored to be apart of and I just can’t wait, it makes it different and that bit more special.”

Warren’s opponent Rahman is a former professional boxer who made his debut back in 2013 beating Shaunn Watt.

However, Rahman only made one appearance in the paid ranks, and has since debuted in the league beating Marcus Stephenson in April on the ‘Divide and Conquer’ bill.

And Warren revealed he is preparing for a tough test, as he prepares to meet the come forward style of Rahman.

Warren added: “I know that he had turned pro back in 2013 and had one fight, I know from my trainers, because I haven’t seen any footage of him, that he’s a come forward fighter and he’s strong.

“I’ve just been training for that really and I’m expecting a good fight, I’ve heard he’s a good fighter.

“I take each day as it comes, nerves for me don’t really come until the day of the weigh in. I would be lying if it didn’t say I was a little bit nervous, but I think that’s natural to have some nerves.

“I’m more just excited than nervous I think, I’m really excited, I’m buzzing.”
