Andre Grant insists he has the perfect plan to beat his next opponent in the UK’s premier boxing league, as he prepares to jump back into action to make the first defence of his title next month.
Grant, 25 from Farnborough will put his novice Light Welterweight belt and undefeated record on the line on Saturday May 9th when he travels to the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey to meet London rival Thomas King on the undercard of the league’s big Unfinished Business promotion, and the champion is supremely confident he’ll have more than enough to return home with his perfect record and championship status intact.
Grant claimed the title back in February when he produced the performance of his short career to beat fellow contender Ben Vezza for vacant title in only his second start in the competition, and the champion who represents the Henri’s boxing gym in Aldershot believes he is only just getting started as he predicts bigger things to come this year starting on the 9th.
Talking ahead of his next assignment the young champion said: “ Winning the belt at the start of the season was incredible, and I’m feeling very confident coming into this first defence against Thomas King.
“ I was ringside at the Alexandra Palace in March to watch King beat Ryan Williams to earn a shot at my title, and from what I saw I think his style will suit me perfectly”
“ Since the last fight I’ve been hardly out of the gym, and I’ve also been doing some training over in New York at the world famous Gleeson’s boxing gym which was an amazing experience, so I can’t wait to lace the gloves back on now and step through those ropes to defend my title.
Grant's first defence will take place on the undercard of the Unfinished Business promotion headlined by the British Middleweight title showdown between champion Gareth Gardner and challenger Lloyd Miller, and to view the rest of the stacked line up click HERE.
