Queensbury Boxing League - Kinslow Ready For For McDonagh Test

Carl ‘Energy’ Kinslow is promising to give the Queensbury fans a complete performance on Saturday September 9th as he prepares for one of the biggest heavyweight clashes the competition has ever staged.

The 32-year old from Medway in Kent has been one of the breakout stars of the show this season, carving his way through all his rivals en route to a stunning first round stoppage over Paul Watts to win the Regional Heavyweight title back in May.

Kinslow will make his first defense of his newly acquired title at Epsom Racecourse against London’s Tommy Mcdonagh who made a sensational league debut in July beating tough Polish rival Rafa Kuczyko.

“I’m not sure if Tommy is my biggest test yet, as I haven’t shared the ring with him! But I know his amateur record is good, said the champion.

"I was ringside to watch his last performance – his distance was good and his boxing brain was smart, with some nice step-offs and footwork".

Kinslow is no stranger to success after winning titles in various other combat disciplines including MMA, and the gym owner who divides his time between training and teaching others believes eating, sleeping and training boxing will ensure he wins on the 9th.

“I’m hitting two to three sessions daily. This includes shadow boxing with weights, speed bag and heavy bag workouts to keep my muscles sharp as well as my mind.

“I’m also doing weight training and coaching others which means my mind is working more and thinking of technique all day. I’ve had some great sparring with Pete Stoten and Jakub Doman – experience and toughness like theirs can’t be bought.

“I train seven days a week for the love of training and for mind evolvement. I’m a perfectionist and I strive every day to be the best I can be in life, whatever I do. I thrive on hard work. It’s how I win fights, with the right mind and clever work.

Whilst clearly respectful of his opponent, Kinslow is sure he will have his arm raised when the dust settles.

“My prediction is you will see my intelligence and hunger and I say this with a humble mind! Having had fights in MMA, BJJ, freestyle wrestling, K1 and now boxing, I envision a win in a complete fashion.

“I hope Tommy has a great camp with no injuries. I’ve been waiting too long!”

Kinslow versus Mcdonagh is just one of our headline attractions for ‘Glory’ on September 9th. For ticket information contact the box office on 0208 7518599
