Queensbury Boxing League - Lawrence Buzzing For Davidson Showdown

Light Middleweight prospect Ollie Lawrence say’s he has not let the success of his impressive debut in the league go to his head, as he prepares to return to the ring next weekend for the start of the 2014 season of action.

The undefeated twenty one year old from Allington in Maidstone was last in action back in October at the league's Courage Under Fire promotion when he produced a stunning first round knockout victory over London’s Joey Pirotta, and after catching the attention of the shows fans on British Eurosport, Lawrence will be hoping he can build on that success when he faces fellow unbeaten prospect Darryl Davidson on Saturday February 8th at the Efiingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.

With the league's Light Middleweight division boasting some of the competitions biggest names including Ramsgate's Sam Holloway and Croydon's Gareth Gardner who themselves go head to head on March 15th at the Alexandra Palace to decide the number one in the division, a win for Lawrence will set up a crack at the vacant National Light Middleweight title and put him firmly in the mix with some of the shows biggest stars.

Lawrence said: “My debut in the league could not have gone any better, but I’ve not walked away from that fight thinking I’m the best or the better man, I won the fight and all I've been focussing on is my next fight which is all that matters now.

“Its been nice having people contact me and congratulate me after seeing the fight on Eurosport and it was the best feeling I’ve ever experienced in boxing, but now I’m looking forward to getting back into action and I’m buzzing about next weekends big night.

Lawrence’s contest will feature as one of the headline bouts at the opening round of the big 2014 season of action, and with the big fight preparations going to plan a win will see the young prospect catapulted into title contention.

“ Training has been going really well since I started back just after Christmas and I’m feeling sharp, fit and ready to go, so come fight night I’m going to be at the top of my game and ready for whatever Davidson brings.

Tickets for the show are priced at £35, £50 and £65 and for more information on teh full line up of action at the New Dawn promotion CLICK HERE
