Queensbury English Light Middleweight champion Nathan Leeson has promised title challenger Danny Shannon that he will be facing the best Nathan Leeson there has ever been when the pair collide on Saturday September 14th in an explosive showdown.
The twenty six year old champion was last in action back in June when he produced unquestionably his best performance inside the league by dominating Michael Mcpherson in his first contest down at Welterweight, but after moving back up to the 11 stone division Leeson will make the first defense of his crown against Chatham’s awkward Shannon in a contest that has already created fireworks with their war of words on social networking site Facebook.
Like Leeson, Shannon has already mixed with the divisions elite after losing out to British Light Middleweight champion Gareth Gardner back in September of 2012, and after seeing that performance Leeson believes he will need to adopt a different approach to this fight if he is going to make a real statement and stop Shannon inside the distance.
“ Danny’s got an awkward style of boxing, but I’ve not seen anything in his repertoire that looks like its going to trouble me, so I’m confident of making a real statement in this fight and stopping him”
“From watching Danny’s performance against Gardner you can see he does not know how to handle it when he’s backed up under pressure, so I’m going to need to change my normal counter punching style and take the fight to him more as I want to make this a really exciting fight for the league’s fans to see”
“I feel over my last two fights in the league I’ve really improved, and against Alan Wilks I showed improvements in my fitness, and against Mcpherson I sat down on my punches more and showed a bit more power. But for the Shannon fight I’m looking at really putting on a show, and I’m not one for making predictions, but I’m going to be ready to put on my best performance and show people the best Nathan Leeson there has ever been.
Leeson's first title defense will headline the league's bumper Pride And Glory promotion at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, which features yet another stunning line up of boxing entertainment.
