Super Middleweight Lloyd Miller has set his sights on reaching the pinnacle of the league's Super Middleweight division this season, as he prepares to make his return to action next Saturday night at the league's 2015 season opener.
Miller, 27 from Kent will lace up the gloves at the Rise Of The Warriors promotion at the Millennium arena in West Sussex for his second stint in the competition after calling time on his amateur career, and the former Box Cup champion is confident that his opponent former Southern Area champion Paul Morby will not hear the final bell in their Super Middleweight showdown.
Miller was last in action in the league back in November 2013 when he looked on course to claim the shows National title after systematically out boxing London rival Freddie Yemofio during the first three rounds of their title encounter, but after a momentary lapse in concentration the contest was dramatically halted when Yemofio detonated a vicious left hook which sent Miller crashing to the canvas forcing the referee to end his championship dreams.
But after regrouping and stringing together a run of impressive performances back in the amateur ranks which saw him win a gold medal in the Haringey Box Cup in London, a philosophical Miller believes the defeat was a blessing in disguise and that he is returning to the competition a far more dangerous fighter.
Talking ahead of his impending return the Orpington stylist said: “Losing to Yemofio has done me a favour, and since that loss I’ve gone back to basics and worked on my defence as well as many other aspects and I feel like a more complete fighter now.
“The main thing that I needed to work on was my defence as I know that I’ve got the power to hurt people, but defensively I was too open so that’s something I’ve really improved.
“I’m really excited to be making my return to the league as the shows produce an incredible atmosphere and the fights are always great, and my goal now is to make my way back up into title contention and ultimately win the British title down the line.
Miller's showdown with Morby will feature on the under card of the hotly anticipated season opener at the Millennium Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex next Saturday evening, and for ticket information on the event call 0203 751 8599
