Tadworth’s undefeated Light Middleweight Jimmy Mizon will get his chance to re-establish himself as one of the leading eleven stone fighters in the Queensbury Boxing League later this month, when he takes on dangerous Ugandan Mike Kabembula for the vacant Queensbury Southern Area title at the league's highly anticipated Striking Distance promotion at Effingham Park Hotel in Copthorne, West Sussex.
The former Queensbury Middleweight champion has seen his career stutter after relinquishing the Middleweight title last year to take a break from the sport, but after recording two fairly low key wins since his return, Mizon now feels its time to really concentrate on his career and stake a claim as one of the divisions biggest names.
But before Mizon can get too carried away he will have to deal with Sutton based Ugandan Kabembula who will represent one of the biggest threats to the former champions undefeated credentials since joining the league back in 2010, but a confident Mizon says he feels more than ready to face anyone after teaming up with new coach Paulie Stevens.
“I think in the past I’ve been training hard for my fights and obviously winning them, but to an extent I’ve just been going through the motions but that’s all changed since teaming up with Paulie and I now feel fitter and stronger than ever before,” remarked Mizon.
“I’m dropping down in weight to face Kabembula which won’t be a problem because I’ve completely changed my training and diet to ensure I am in the best possible condition, but although I’ve not seen any footage of him I’ve heard he’s strong, confident and really believes he can beat me so its going to be a cracking fight”
“All I am focussed on is what I need to do in that ring on April 28th and after everything I have been doing in training I think people are going to see a completely different Jimmy Mizon this time around and I can’t wait to get in there now.
Mizon’s contest features on the undercard of the promotions packed Striking Distance event that takes place on Saturday April 28th at the Effingham Park Hotel near Crawley in West Sussex, and to find out more information on the event check out the fight card HERE
