Olamide Dedegbe ready to bounce back from Quest defeat

Queensbury Boxing League - Olamide Dedegbe ready to bounce back from Quest defeat

Peckham boxer Olamide Dedegbe cited he is ready to bounce back from his ‘disappointing’ Quest Knockout Tournament.

Dedegbe bailed out in the first round of the middleweight tournament back in September when he was outpointed by Jordan Tucker in a close bout in the quarter-finals.

Despite the Frenchman believing he had done enough to book a place into the semi-final, Dedegbe admitted he is happy to be returning to action on the ‘Capital Shakedown’ bill, staged at the Troxy, in London, on November 24.

“It was definitely a disappointing night,” Dedegbe admitted.

“I have not seen the footage, but I’m looking forward to seeing the actual fight broadcasted on TV, so I can actually make up my mind.

“I’ve seen a few bits from friends through phone footage and I do still think I won that fight. I thought it was cagey, and it was a thinking fight where it wasn’t all action but like I said I thought I did the better work.

“After every performance you have to take the negatives and try and improve on it and capitalise on the positives.

“I love boxing, I want to be involved with boxing and I am definitely determined to come back even stronger and not leave it to the judges all the time, and if it does go to the judges I must make sure I am much more busy and on the front foot making it clear I’m winning the rounds.”

Dedegbe, still the QBL Regional middleweight champion, revealed he has plans to defend his title again, before aiming to challenge for the National title.

“I’m looking at taking it step by step and progressing as much as I can in the league,” he said.

“I am still the Regional middleweight champion, so I’m looking to defend that and why not look at the National title.”
