Oliver Says Spencer Won't Be Asking For More

Queensbury Boxing League - Oliver Says Spencer Won't Be Asking For More

Coach Charlie Oliver believes his light middleweight star “Sugar” O’Shane Clarke's will be celebrating the biggest win of his career this Saturday night, when Clarke collides with rival Bradley "The Kid" Spencer for the vacant National light middleweight crown.

The unbeaten 22 year old will step through the ropes at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey this Saturday night in front of the British Eurosport cameras when he bids to lift his first domestic title, and Oliver is confident his young charge will produce a stand out performance to beat London's talented baby faced assassin.

Clarke was last in action in the competition back in February 2015 when he produced a dazzling display of boxing to beat Senegal’s Matar Sambou on points, but the young star has since had to endure a frustrating time on the sidelines after several title shots fell through due to opponents not wanting to face him.

But Oliver believes the wait to finally get his shot at the title will have been worth it and Saturday night will only be the start of a glittering career in the sport.

Talking ahead of Saturday night Oliver said, “O'Shane's had a frustrating time with opponents pulling out and he's had several title shots fall through because of that, but he's been back in the gym for a while now and I've never seen him this focussed on a fight"

“Saturday night will be without doubt the biggest fight of his career and O'Shane knows that he is going to have to be in the shape of his life to win, but after watching him during his training camp and seeing him on fire in sparring the whole of the Camberley Boxing club team are more than confident he'll do it"

“We have seen Spencer in action before when he boxed Gareth Gardner in the Quest tournament and he’s an awkward operator who will cause O'Shane a few problems, but even with his distinct height and reach advantage over O’Shane I still don’t see those physical advantages being a problem”

“ This fight is all about O’Shane proving just what a special talent he is, and when people see him in action on Saturday and witness what he can do when he’s fully focussed, they are going to be really impressed”

Clarke's title showdown with Spencer will feature as the co main event this Saturday night at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and for ticket information call the box office on 0203 751 8599
