After an incredible 2012 season of boxing that saw the league's success reach new heights with its televised coverage across Europe and Asia on Eurosport and the ASN Network, Queensbury promotional duo Ross Minter and Alan Foley have now confirmed their ambitious 2013 line up of events which promises to bring fight fans the most exciting nights of boxing in the promotions history.
Talking ahead of the release of the dates for the first two stops on the packed 2013 calendar of shows, head of promotions Alan Foley confirmed that the league will be hosting nine events over the coming twelve months and believes that the 2013 season will be a groundbreaking year for the promotion and all of the boxers involved.
Foley commented, " 2013 looks set to be an amazing year for the league and if everything we have in the pipeline comes off, its hard not to get excited about where we are taking the show"
"We've built the league and its success on promoting exciting 50/50 fights where the best in each division face each other, and over the next nine events this year we promise the league's fans both in the UK and abroad another electrifying season to enjoy"
Opening the season on Saturday February 23rd, the league returns to the Effingham Park Hotel with the third instalment of the exciting Challenger Boxing Series, which has already established itself as the proving ground for many of the shows up and coming stars. Launched at the beginning of the league's 2012 season as a platform for both novice boxers and new competitors just entering the league, the raw, edgy series of action looks set to be even bigger this year with February's show already packed with some mouth watering new additions that will be eager to impress.
March 16th looks set to be the date you can't afford to miss as the league kicks off its main event shows with an unbelievable line up of boxing at the Epson Downs Racecourse in Surrey. Aptly named Nowhere To Hide, the show will see the league's hottest properties go head to head as champion faces champion when British Light Middleweight ruler Aaron Lowery finally meets his Middleweight counterpart Gareth Gardner in a showdown to establish the league's number one eleven stone fighter, and in Middleweight title action the fuse has been lit for an explosive encounter as Danny 'Dynamite' Lineham returns after his electric debut in November to challenge established league star Sam Holloway for the vacant English belt. Also stepping up to title level on the packed undercard, Margate's undefeated light middleweight Alan Wilks has secured the fight he has been craving when he challenges former title challenger Danny Shannon for the recently vacated English eleven stone belt. The pair were involved in a heated exchange earlier on in the year on Facebook when Wilks questioned Shannon's suitability to challenge Gareth Gardner for the title on the league's September show, but with those differences now resolved the pair have promised to let their gloves do the talking on the 16th in an intriguing battle.
With the league set to confirm a further seven promotions over the coming weeks, and some major announcements on their exciting televised schedule, the 2013 season has all the ingredients to establish the competition as the UK's most exciting boxing platform.
