Pinto Faces Young Pretender In Title Showdown

Queensbury Boxing League - Pinto Faces Young Pretender In Title Showdown

In an unexpected turn of events Roundshaw's Lewis Pinto will now face Hasting's James Kelly on Saturday September 17th at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in a mouthwatering fight for the vacant Queensbury British Middleweight title previously held by Tadworth's Jimmy Mizon. The former champion was originally scheduled to meet arch rival Tony Chaplin to settle once and for all who the number one middleweight was in the division, but with Chaplin withdrawing from the bout former 11 stone ruler Pinto agreed to step up in weight and face the formidable Mizon. But in boxing nothing is ever straight forward and with Mizon deciding unexpectedly to move abroad for the summer and not defend his crown, the belt has been vacated allowing Pinto and the young pretender Kelly to fight for the championship.

With tickets for show already being snapped up September 17th looks set to be possibly the league's most anticipated show of 2011 with four title fights topping the stacked undercard of action.
