Former amateur boxing star Duane Sinclair say’s he is ready to bring fireworks to the UK’s premier boxing league later this month when he challenges for the vacant British Light Cruiserweight in the main event of the league's massive end of season finale.
The thirty one year old teacher from Thornton Heath will make his debut in the Queensbury Boxing League on Saturday November 30th when he takes on highly touted Cuban prospect Yisan Rodriguez for a chance to claim the title, and after enjoying a very successful career in the amateur ranks that saw Sinclair capture both the London and South East championship titles, the man from Thornton Heath will be hoping he can administer a boxing lesson to his young rival and be crowned champion after the mouth watering top of the bill encounter.
Fellow challenger Rodriguez has already established himself in the competition as a major star after two impressive displays that have featured as part of the league's coverage on British Eurosport, but Sinclair believes it will be his hand raised on the night after one of his toughest tests.
Talking ahead of the big fight Sinclair said,“ I’m facing a guy who’s got all the moves and looks like he can bang a bit too, but I’m confident that once I’ve worked him out I’m going to win this fight and take the belt home”
“I’ve seen Rodriguez box in the amateurs before he joined the league, and he likes to switch hit a lot so I’m not preparing to fight just a southpaw or an orthodox boxer, I'm preparing to fight someone that does everything and I'll be looking out for his power as well"
“The key to me winning this fight is accuracy, and I’m not looking to go in there and knock him out or get into a scrap, I’m looking to use my skills and box him and I’m confident that will win me the title and produce a very exciting fight"
Sinclair versus Rodriguez headlines arguably the biggest line up of the league's incredible 2013 season of boxing, and tickets for the event are still available priced at £35, £50 and £65
