Queensbury Boxing League - Stalford Ready To Be Relentless On Saturday Fight Night

Welterweight contender Danny "Relentless" Stalford say’s he is 100% focussed on beating Marc Wimbledon this weekend, as the pair collide for a second shot at champion ID Hill

The 25-year-old from Surrey will lace up the gloves on Saturday night at the Rise Of The Warriors season opener at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel knowing victory will pave the way for another shot at the undefetated champion, and the Surrey stylist is more than confident that he will serve Wimbledon his first defeat of the new year as he targets a second crack at the Regional belt.

Stalford was last in action at the 2014 end of season finale when he missed out on claiming his first title in the competition after losing out on points to the reigning champion Hill after a closely fought battle, and after the initial disappointment of losing his unbeaten record had faded, Stalford quickly turned his attention on securing a second tilt at the belt starting with a win this weekend.

Talking ahead of the clash that features on the under card of the Rise Of The Warriors promotion Stalford said: “After the last fight against Hill I was really disappointed as I felt I was landing the cleaner punches during the fight, but I think I just was not busy enough as Hill was throwing a lot of punches but I did'nt feel they were landing on the target.

“ Although I’ve come into the sport from a Thai boxing background and do have previous ring experience, I’m still relatively inexperienced in some aspects of the game and I think that showed on the night, but I’ve been working so hard in the gym in preparation for the Wimbledon fight and after all the hard work with my trainer Ian Johnson at the Like 2 Box gym in Redhill I feel like I’ve been boxing forever now.

“For this fight I’m feeling fitter, stronger and I’m planning on throwing a lot more leather, and there is no way I'm taking him lightly as my main goal this year is to get another shot at the title and to do that I’ve got to take care of business on Saturday.

Stalford vs Wimbledon will feature on the league's bumper card of action this Saturday night in the Millennium Arena at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel, and for tickets contact the league's box office on 0203 751 8599
