On Saturday evening at the Queensbury Boxing League's Collision Course promotion at the Effingham Park Hotel, Beckton's undefeated light Middleweight Marlon Stuart produced a stunning first round knockout victory over reining Queensbury 11st ruler Lewis Pinto to become the the new undisputed Queensbury Boxing League Light Middleweight champion.
In just over 1 and a half minutes of the first round Stuart managed to detonate a series of devastating hooks to the normally teak tough champions exposed chin to send Pinto crashing to the canvas. The champion managed to beat the count and resume the action but clearly stunned by the barrage of shots he had taken it was not long before Stuart was back on the offensive and again caught the champion against the ropes and unloaded some vicious leather that saw referee Seamus Dunn jump in to call a halt to the action to protect Pinto from further punishment. Pinto clearly distressed at the referee's intervention protested about the stoppage but it was clear that the former champion was no longer able to defend himself and that the referee had made the correct decision.
With Stuart the new 11st boss there will be plenty of fighters eager to challenge him for the title, but off the back of his title winning performance it will take a special fighter to relieve him of his crown. We will be posting news of the fantastic undercard action that unfolded at the show over the next few days so keep checking back for all teh latest news.
