The Hunger Is Back Says Leinster

Queensbury Boxing League - The Hunger Is Back Says Leinster

Former QBL national middleweight champion Kieran Leinster say’s rediscovering his hunger for boxing will ensure he makes a successful return to the ring, as he focuses on rebuilding his league career.

The 24 year old will be in action at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on Saturday April 9th in his first outing of the new season, and Leinster believes he will be a different fighter in 2016 after hooking up with respected Surrey based trainer Ian Johnson.

Leinster was last in action back in November when he was eliminated at the semi final stages of the first Quest knockout tournament, losing to eventual winner Tey Lynn Jones, and after picking himself up from defeat Leinster believes he has even more to prove on his ring return.

“ Since November there have been some big changes in my training set up, and after teaming up with my new coach Ian Johnson down in Redhill in Surrey, I feel I’ve got my hunger and desire back, said Leinster.

“ I learnt so much from my old coach Peter and he’s got me to where I am, but things had got a little bit stale and I felt I needed a new direction and I’m just enjoying everything about boxing including the new types of training we are doing”

The former two division champion has built up a big following with his fan friendly aggressive style, but the young prospect admits it was his defensive frailties that let him down in his last encounter, and has been something he's really been focusiing on in his new surroundings.

“ During training I been really working on my defence this time around and trying to break some of the bad habits I’ve acquired. The gym in Redhill has so many good fighters so I’m getting in lots of sparring to work on things, and I feel like new life has been breathed into my boxing"

“I think on April 9th you are going to see the best Kieran Leinster there has ever been, and I can’t wait to get back in the ring”

Leinster’s will be in action on the big undercard of the Reisser Edge Of Glory promotion at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on April 9th, and for more information on the show CLICK HERE
