This Is A Must Win Fight For Me Says Leroy

Queensbury Boxing League - This Is A Must Win Fight For Me Says Leroy

Exciting boxing prospect Tommy Leroy says his rematch with title challenger Luke Cullen is a “must win” fight for him as he prepares to face his rival for the second time.

Leroy will lock horns with Cullen on February 3rd in the main event of the league’s 2018 season opener at the millennium arena in West Sussex, and the Surrey based banger has promised to be a totally different animal this time around when they collide for the newly vacated national title.

The undefeated Queensbury regional light welterweight champion from Tadworth went toe to toe with Cullen in a pulsating season finale thriller back in November, which left the judges unable to split the pair, but a fired up Leroy believes the rematch will be very different.

“On February 3rd the fans are going to be shocked by just how different a fighter I am going to be against Cullen this time around, and I’m training like a machine, commented Leroy.

“ I came into the first fight off the back of knocking everyone out and I’ll be honest and say I was guilty of being over confident and a bit complacent, but complacency will not be a factor this time”

With Kent rival Cullen equally confident of breaking the stalemate of their first installment and handing Leroy is first defeat, the stage looks set for yet another sizzling showdown.

“ After the first fight Luke knows he’s not got the power to hurt me and I’m sure he thinks that his come forward style is going to unsettle me again, but the difference this time is I’ve trained properly for this fight and it’s going to be very different, continued Leroy.

“ In the last fight my fitness let me down a bit, but after watching the fight back I was the one landing the cleaner more eye catching shots”

“ I know how important this fight is and also how good Luke Cullen is, so I have been training harder than I’ve ever trained for any fight before”

“ It’s going to be action packed from start to finish and I can’t afford to let anyone down, so I’m training twice a day every day to make sure I come out with that title on February 3rd”

Leroy’s challenge for the Queensbury national light welterweight title headlines the explosive 2018 season opener at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel on Saturday February 3rd. For further information on the event call the box office on 0203 751 8599
