Queensbury Boxing League - To be the best I'll beat the best says Baker

Rising QBL contender Kane Baker says his boxing skills will be the deciding factor when he challenges Joel "Smoke" Wanderema for the vacant national light middleweight next month.

The 23 year old from Gravesend in Kent will meet formidable former national middleweight king Wanderema on Saturday September 9th at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey in a mouth watering collision to determine the number one in the 11 stone division.

Already a regional champion in the competition Baker will get his chance to truly cement his status as one of the shows biggest stars if he can beat the former national king, and Baker is confident he'll produce a defining performance to lift the belt.

Talking ahead of his mega fight with his London rival Baker said, “ To be the best you’ve got to beat the best and for me Wanderema is the best out there in this division”

“ I’ve won titles in the league but I’ve still not really shown people what I’m capable of, but on September 9th I’m going to put on a performance”

Baker’s last outing in the competition back in April saw him edge out aggressive title rival Steve Albone with a hard fought points decision to successfully retain his regional crown.

But the Gravesend stylist is fully aware Wanderema will be by far his toughest test since lacing up the gloves in the Queensbury Boxing League.

“Wanderema’s strong, aggressive and as shown he can bang after he stopped Kieran Leinster last year to win the middleweight title so I know how big a challenge this is”, continued Baker

“ Since my last fight I’ve switched gyms and I’m now training down at the Keddles gym alongside Queensbury national Welterweight champion Alex Bellingham so I’m getting in some amazing sparring”

“ I see this fight as the classic boxer versus puncher with Wanderema the proven banger, but I believe I’m the superior boxer and when that bell goes I’m going out there to prove I’m the best in the division”
