Chris Wood has vowed to exact his revenge on old foe Tommy Jacobs when the pair rematch for the British Masters Light-Middleweight Title on May 6th at the millennium arena in West Sussex.
Jacobs emerged with a hard earned points victory after a thrilling clash last time the pair shared the ring, but since the rematch was confirmed a simmering war of words has erupted over social media and Wood’s distaste for his conqueror is all too apparent.
“The guy’s a clown. He’s the type of bloke that if you had a black cat, his would be blacker.
“I used to have a lot of respect for him but he’s come out with a load of nonsense about the last fight and why he fought so badly. He said he killed himself to make weight but he had a full camp to prepare while I had four days notice!”
The 30-year old scaffolder from Middlesborough is supremely confident he will exact his revenge at the Copthorne Hotel Effingham Park, on a show billed as ‘Take Cover.’ And he has laid the blame for his antagonism firmly at the feet of an opponent dubbed ‘Sweet T.’
“I had no problem with him until he started talking rubbish. He’s saying next time it’s going to be a totally different fight and people are going to wonder what happened in the first bout. He thinks I won’t lay a glove on him and the referee will have to take mercy on me.
“He’s got a load of mates blowing smoke up his backside telling him he’s going to be world champ so I’m more than happy he thinks he’s going to smash me to bits. I don’t come with any excuses as I’ve had a full camp this time, doing the bulk of my work at Spartans Gym in Middlesborough.”
And Wood’s prediction for May 6th? “I just hope he doesn’t come up with some lame excuse when he gets beat!”
Wood versus Jacobs 2 features as the chief supporting contest on the league's stacked Take Cover promotion on Saturday May 6th at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex. For ticket information contact the QBL box office on 0203 7518599.
